Question 35 of 35

Why should we not hire you?

"If you hate incurably optimistic morning people, you shouldn't hire me. I am the type of person who wakes up whistling a happy tune and rolls out of bed with a spring in my step. I worked with one person who was the grouchiest person in the morning that I've ever known, and they used to joke that if I started whistling before they'd had their coffee, they would murder me. At least, I hope they were joking, but after that warning, I laughed and never put it to the test. Sometimes, if I arrived to work before them, I would make their coffee for them. A sign of goodwill."

      How to Prep

This interview question challenges your wit and ability to think outside the box. The trick to answering questions like this is offering a strength that can also be perceived as a weakness, such as some of your pet peeves that might benefit the business. For example, if you are extremely safety-oriented, you can warn your interviewer that you have annoyed your coworkers by always insisting they wear their bike helmets when riding to work or insisting everyone wear protected eyewear whenever necessary and that you do so because you care for the welfare of the team. However you choose to answer, you aim to offer something that is a positive trait you are committed to, regardless of its popularity.
