Career Goals
1. Is there an area that you feel you need to improve in? If so, what is it and what is your plan for change?
How to Answer
Denso is not looking to hire employees who feel that they know everything they need to know. An employee who has a realistic understanding of strengths and weaknesses is much better in the long run than one who is not teachable. The interviewer needs to know what your attitude is toward learning new skills. Give the hiring manager an honest reflection about your weaknesses, but don't dwell on them. Discuss areas you would like to grow in and reassure the manager that you are willing to make a commitment toward improvement.
Written by James McMechan on September 6th, 2021
1st Answer Example
"I wish I could tell you that I am perfect and have no weaknesses or blind spots, but we both know that isn't true. One area that I would like to improve in is trusting my staff more as I delegate. I tend to micro-manage on occasion and think that I need to trust them and their abilities to sort out a problem before running to the rescue as much as I do. My plan to improve that is to get feedback from those I work with so that they can help me keep this tendency in check."
Written by James McMechan on September 6th, 2021
2nd Answer Example
"I would like to be a better listener at times. My tendency in sales is to be verbal, and I am very verbally wired, but sometimes my communication style can come across as pushy or forceful. I have been trying to be more cognizant of this trait and pull back when I am in a conversation, so I don't ramrod my ideas through and make the other person feel that they haven't been heard."

Career Goals

Written by James McMechan on September 6th, 2021
1st Answer Example
"I really like that you choose to promote your current staff before you go outside of the company to hire. I have some leadership experience in my current role and plan to quickly prove my skills after being hired here. I look forward to having a chance to show what I can do!"
Written by James McMechan on September 6th, 2021
2nd Answer Example
"I am newer to my career, so I haven't really given leadership and management a lot of thought, but yes, I have to say that I would like to be further trained in a leadership role one day. I think that the more I learn, the more secure my job will be, and the better future I will have at Denso."

Communication
3. Communication is a huge part of the success in any corporation. How much exposure have you had to communication and why it might be important to your position?
How to Answer

Talk to the interviewer about a time that you have handled a failure to communicate and were able to work through these obstacles to get the task or project completed.
Written by James McMechan on September 6th, 2021
1st Answer Example

Written by James McMechan on September 6th, 2021
2nd Answer Example
"If I were to have a supervisor who did not communicate properly with me, I would be open and ask them to be clearer on their expectations of me. I would always ask questions in a professional way so as not to assume and do the task wrong."

The process of bidding for our business forced many of them to offer discounted rates. We even found a couple of vendors who were more competitive with their pricing, so we made the switch. 1st Answer Example
"In my previous position, I was the Director of Commercial Sales, and was responsible for making relationships with many parts managers across the city. I bring that kind of experience to the table. My philosophy for sales is to maintain good quality relations with the people who make buying decisions for companies. I have a lot of energy in trying to meet their needs. I also believe that you have to know your product inside and out so that you can effectively answer any questions your client might have."

2nd Answer Example
"I have extensive experience in dealing with customers in my current position, and I have always believed that good communication and listening skills should drive any salesperson. If you cannot sell the value of a product, and if you don't listen to what the customer is saying, there will always be a disconnect. I love maintaining good friendships with my customers so that I can build their trust."

26. One of your roles at Denso is to be focused on inventory controls and loss prevention. What might you do if you discovered someone stealing from the company?
How to Answer
Inventory control and loss prevention are critical areas for a company as large as Denso. Companies want to know they are hiring loyal employees who will put the company's needs above their own. Make sure that you demonstrate in your answer that you would do the right thing and represent the company you are working for.

1st Answer Example
"Unfortunately, every company has to deal with this kind of thing. If I found that a co-worker was stealing or doing anything to harm the company, I would approach them directly to ask what was going on. There is a good chance of the situation being a simple misunderstanding. If it wasn't a misunderstanding and the co-worker was outright defiant, then I would bring it up, in a professional manner, to the appropriate parties."

2nd Answer Example
"Dishonesty is unacceptable, in my opinion. I would notify my supervisor immediately if I was made aware of a co-worker being dishonest or stealing from the company. Whenever parts start disappearing out the back door, it hurts all of us. That is one less part the company can profit from."
