Question 1 of 31

Talk about a time you had to work with patients, clients, customers or students that were under stress. What did you do to make their situation less stressful to help foster a great outcome in the situation?

"In my years as an Occupational Therapist in the elementary education setting, it was often hard for family members to grasp the fact their child needed therapy. Parents were often scared that something major was wrong with their child and the feelings of fear could often turn to anger. Very early in my career, I learned that taking a straightforward, educational approach with people put their minds at ease the best. By educating parents on why issues were happening and discussing treatment options, they were able to understand their child better and the best plan of attack to help the therapy process. This buy-in into the process really helped and these techniques would translate well to parents that have a child suffering from plagiocephaly."

      2nd Answer Example

"During my years of working in direct customer service, my skills in dealing with stressed customers have definitely developed into what I would now consider a fine art form. This art form starts with the understanding that I am working with a living, breathing human that has raw emotions just like me. Because of this, I take a very empathetic approach and try to put myself in their shoes and I treat them how I would want to be treated. I use my great listening skills to really feel their needs and then do my best to meet those needs. I would imagine that the families that seek out the services of Cranial Technologies are in the same boat as a lot of customers I have worked with in the past."

You have some great ideas for this response, but I suggest focusing on a specific time when you had to work with someone under stress. Once again, for this response, I suggest using the STAR framework (Situation, Task, Action, Result.)
