Cartier's dress code requires their employees to wear professional business attire such as suits, ties, skirts, and heels. Assure the interviewer you are comfortable conforming to this dress code. 2nd Answer Example
"Yes. I completely understand the importance of presenting a united front in the workplace which I know includes a dress code. I have worked in the luxury goods industry before and I also understand that customers and clients want to see a professional look."

10. In your opinion, what is the biggest difference when it comes to selling low end and high end products?
How to Answer
Cartier says that they employ people that make dreams come true. What positions Cartier as a high-end luxury product maker is their vision for the products, boldness, and independence. Knowing this, there is a distinguished difference between sales of low-end products versus higher-end luxury products. One of the things that set these products apart is how you sell them. Write down the differences between the two first and explore how you would tell the interviewer the differences. The interviewer wants to know, even if you don't have experience selling high-end products, how you would approach the selling aspect.
Written by Jessica H. on February 6th, 2023
1st Answer Example
"In my opinion, the most significant difference in selling high-end products is that you must be extremely patient and knowledgeable. High-end products come with a higher price tag and most clients want to make educated purchases. Additionally, clients may want to take their time when purchasing these products which may not result in a sale right away. It is important to establish relationships with clients at Cartier before making the sale."
Written by Jessica H. on February 6th, 2023
2nd Answer Example
"Lower-end products can be items that are everyday and mundane and don't require much thought or perhaps money to purchase. The higher-end products involve more money, therefore may require more planning and thought before purchase."

Experience
23. At Cartier we pride ourselves in our high end products. Walk me through your experience in selling high end products.
How to Answer
A good strategy is to look at the Sales Associate job description. You'll see that relationship building is the number one factor in selling Cartiers' products. Start with picking a scenario or two from your current role or past role that you can share with the interviewer. If you have experience working in the luxury goods or high-end luxury goods industry, share your experience selling those products. If you haven't worked in a sales role or in the high-end luxury products field, tap into the experience you do have. You can also share the research you have done on how to efficiently sell Cartier's products or provide examples of how you might approach it.

1st Answer Example
"I started my career in luxury sales with another luxury goods company and was required to produce monthly sales of $6,000. I consistently met my sales quota for the last 10 out of 12 months in the last year and have won the Salesperson of the year award for the last two. I think my experience and success in sales would be a great asset to Cartier."

2nd Answer Example
"I have a total of 5 years of experience in luxury sales. This experience has included watches, diamonds, rings, and cutlery. I am most comfortable working in a luxury setting and would fit in very well here at Cartier. Most of the products I have sold are timeless pieces, which I know is a staple at Cartier. I have sold over $50,000 in the last 5 months of pieces similar to those in my current role."

Operational
24. We have peak seasons such as Christmas and Valentines Day. Are you able to work overtime, weekends, and evenings during those times?
How to Answer
To keep up with the increased demand for their goods on major holidays, employees at Cartier are required to work longer hours. Make sure you offer flexibility in your schedule when it comes to this time of the year at Cartier. If you have any restrictions on your calendar, this is an excellent time to let them know. If you do have limitations, be sure to offer a feasible workaround. Do not go into too much detail about your plans at this stage, however, be open and honest about your availability.

Performance Based
25. Do you feel performance should be rewarded over experience?
How to Answer
Assess if you feel that you should be paid based on tenure, results, or possibly both. Discuss this with the interviewer and back your answer with an example, if possible. In looking at different roles at Cartier, some positions will be paid hourly plus commission while others are paid on salary. Keep that in mind when crafting your answer.
Written by Jessica H. on February 6th, 2023
1st Answer Example
"I feel that employees should be paid, and rewarded, based on their performance. A new employee would be greatly motivated by being rewarded for performance and I believe this model encourages healthy competition with tenured employees. Of course, this applies differently to different roles at Cartier as some positions are compensated based on sales and effort and others are salary."
Written by Jessica H. on February 6th, 2023
2nd Answer Example
"I feel both performance and experience should be equally rewarded and weighted. This may be applied and look differently at Cartier depending on the roles, however, generally, I think they should be equal."

Performance Based
26. At Cartier, we like to reward our best employees. How do you feel about performance incentives?
How to Answer
Performance incentives can be very motivating. Most sales roles at Cartier come with a performance-based component such as commission, that requires you to hit either weekly, monthly, or quarterly incentives. Talk to the interviewer about your feelings on performance incentives. Keep in mind, most employees who do not love performance incentives usually have a history of underperforming.
Written by Jessica H. on February 6th, 2023
1st Answer Example
"I feel that performance incentives are a great idea. They keep an employee motivated to do a great job and ensure that they are on top of their KPI's. The majority of people are very enthused about being rewarded for their successes. I know that there are many roles at Cartier that have performance incentives that require a certain level of performance. I am confident I can reach each target that is assigned."
Written by Jessica H. on February 6th, 2023
2nd Answer Example
"I think performance incentives are important for driving people to get results. For me, they give me some skin in the game and get my team engaged in making an impact on the results. I understand that this Sales Associate role at Cartier has a performance-incentive component attached to it, and I am happy to reach any goals assigned to me."

Performance Based
27. At Cartier we always seek to hire top performers. Tell me about your past 3 years' sales targets and results.
How to Answer
Cartier Sales Associates are required to meet every sales target they are assigned to. These sales goals are sometimes weekly, monthly or quarterly. Knowing this information, walk the interviewer through your sales targets and results, being sure to highlight your top achievements. If you have documentation to back up your sales, bring that with you. If able, see if you can talk about products you have sold in the past that are similar to Cartier's product base. If not, consider talking about sales techniques you used that could be applicable to Cartier's products.
Written by Jessica H. on February 6th, 2023
1st Answer Example
"My past three years' sales targets for luxury goods have been $700K, $850K, and $1.2M consecutively. In year 1, I met my target of $720K, in Year 2 I exceeded it by 21%, and this past year I was shy by just $60K. I attribute this to a substantial return that I ended up having to take due to a manufacturer's defect. Products I was able to sell were luxury watches, engagement rings, bracelets, and rings which I know is similar to what Cartier sells. I am happy to bring this experience to work for Cartier."
Written by Jessica H. on February 6th, 2023
2nd Answer Example
"I have exceeded my sales targets for the last five years selling TVs. I attribute my success to the great client follow-up process that I have, as well as my high customer referral rating. In my current role, my annual target is $50,000. In the last 3 years, I have sold $50,000, $59,000, and $60,000. I have seen consistent growth and this year am aiming to reach $67,000. I have taken the time to establish an excellent client base and will take my time doing the same at Cartier."

28. At Cartier we keep a close eye on product performance and sales. Are you accustomed to positions where you are responsible for a particular sales target each week?
How to Answer
Sales Associates at Cartier are required to meet or exceed goals that are given to them by management. Those goals may be weekly, monthly, or quarterly. Approach this question based on your experience with meeting sales quotas and goals. Cartier will have sales quotas and goals, and they might be higher than what you are used to based on your experience with sales. Provide the interviewer with some examples of sales quotas you have hit and how consistently you have hit them. The interviewer wants to know that if they hire you in a sales role, you will be able to perform.

"I am accustomed to being closely monitored when it comes to my sales performance. Currently, I am measured on my daily, weekly, and monthly sales performance and all have different target numbers. For the past three years, I have been in the top 10 for sales earnings, company-wide. I plan to continue that success here at Cartier and would love to have a chance to prove that."
Written by Jessica H. on February 6th, 2023
2nd Answer Example
"In my current position, I am not responsible for a specific sales target as I am new to the sales industry. I do, however, constantly research different sales techniques. In addition, I also take time out of my day to shadow our sales staff so that I can gain knowledge. Doing so has really helped in my current role, as I am learning how to influence and speak with people."

29. What are your salary expectations?
How to Answer
As you review the job description on Cartier's website, you will see that most of their job descriptions list the salary. Make sure that your answer corresponds with the range Cartier has listed. 1st Answer Example
"Currently, I earn a base salary of $45,000 per year plus a potential 20% annual bonus. Last year my earnings were $52,000, and I would like to stay in the same range or slightly higher. I know that Cartier has listed on this job description $50,000 - $60,000 annually."

30. Tell me about a time at work when your integrity was challenged. How did you handle it?
How to Answer
One of Cartier's slogans is to "enrich people's lives." Sometimes, despite our best efforts, that can be hard to do. Think about a time in the workplace when you were put to the test when it came to your integrity. Perhaps a co-worker has asked you to lie, or you were tempted to be dishonest on your timesheet when the boss was away. Talk to the interviewer about a time when you overcame the temptation to be dishonest.
Written by Jessica H. on February 6th, 2023
1st Answer Example
"Last year our manager went away on vacation for three weeks. Some of my co-workers wanted to falsify our time sheets to reflect overtime hours that we did not work. I disagreed and was able to convince them that it was a bad idea and certainly not worth being fired over. I know integrity is important at Cartier and I will bring that into this role."
Written by Jessica H. on February 6th, 2023
2nd Answer Example
"I once had a subordinate that would perform work after clocking out. There was a rumor later that I forced my team to work off the clock to save the company money. I did not know it was happening, and I certainly did not ask anyone to work outside of their scheduled shift. I made sure to be proactive to figure out what was going on and solve the issue. Integrity is important to me as I know it is to Cartier."

31. Tell me about your experience in training and coaching others.
How to Answer
Cartier exemplifies creativity, innovation, and drive and looks for these traits in their employees based on reading their careers webpage. When asking this question, the interviewer would like to see that you are capable of leading and training others, even if you are not in an official leadership role. Discuss a time when you have taken on coaching responsibilities. If you do not bring experience coaching in the workplace, perhaps you can discuss any coaching experience you may have when it comes to extracurricular such as sports teams or volunteer work.

"In my last position, I trained new hires on how to use our CRM system. It was a very cool experience because it showed me that I love to teach and train. I am good at explaining how things work. I know that I can bring that to this Accounting role at Cartier."

Offering a listening ear or providing words of encouragement can make a world of difference to your coworkers. Sometimes, just being a positive influence and showing up consistently can also make a difference. If you have worked in a leadership role, think of ways you helped set clear goals or helped individuals cultivate a new skill. As always, it's a good idea to look at their website before answering questions such as this. 35. How do you think we can be more innovative at Cartier?
How to Answer
Innovation at Cartier is what drives the business forward and separates them from the competition. The interviewer isn't asking you to try to reinvent the wheel right on the spot. You can share an idea for an upcoming trend or talk about a new way they can give back to communities in need. This is a smart way for Cartier to test your knowledge of their organization as well. Pick a topic like investing in employees or developing a phone app. Take into account their values so that you can share an idea that they would find exciting and relevant. Cartier's values are creativity, freedom, sharing, and excellence.
Written by Jessica H. on February 6th, 2023
1st Answer Example
"I know from my research that Cartier puts a lot of effort into gaining momentum from millennial customers. This demographic is highly technical and constantly in touch via social media outlets. I would consider creating more consistent hashtags and additional hashtag-driven contests for social media. The customer could take photos of your product and they would post them on their social media accounts. You can never have too much exposure to places like Instagram and Tik Tok."
Written by Jessica H. on February 6th, 2023
2nd Answer Example
"It's difficult for me to provide feedback on innovation without having worked here; although, there is always room for improvement, in any organization. I find your branding to be very timeless and creative. One suggestion I would make would be to advertise more on less traditional platforms such as Tik Tok, as I know Cartier does not have a presence there."
