"There are many ways to motivate employees. In my experience, you have to invest the time to determine what motivates each team member. Some may be motivated by public recognition, some by tangible rewards like money or gifts, and others may be motivated by the opportunity to grow within a company into a leadership position. I also motivate my team by being positive and encouraging and being available one-on-one to coach, mentor, or brainstorm with them.As a leader, I look for ways to engage team members individually and collectively to motivate them. For example, I often include employees in decision-making processes where possible. "I do not regret the direction I have taken my career; however, if I had to start over in a new direction, I would likely pursue my Degree in Education and become a teacher. Both of my parents were teachers, and they seemed to have a very fulfilling careers. I enjoy coaching and leading others, so any tasks in my current career related to these skills, are welcome."

"I will always choose to be a team player. If a co-worker called in sick, I would take over what I could. I would only draw the line if I felt I was being taken advantage of for any reason. For example, if they were purposefully being inefficient and expecting me to pick up the slack. For the sake of the company, I am always willing to go above and beyond expectations."

Some changes were communicated well in advance; however, most were made quickly and without warning. Often, these changes required me to operate in the gray while I waited for further clarification on the rollouts. It was not always easy or pleasant and often required me to learn skills on the go. However, I was able to grow during those periods of discomfort and excel."
