Thank you letters
are a must in today's hiring environment. The reason why it's
completely critical is simply the effort it shows you are
willing to commit too. How long does a thank you letter really
take? The people hiring are considering you could be spending
the next few years at this particular work environment, if this
person can't even spend 20 minutes sending a thank you letter,
how badly will he slack off if we hire this individual.
There should be no templates for a thank you letter. You should have been writing notes during the interview or after the interview. Go over what happened in the interview then write a down to earth letter thanking the person who took time out of their day to interview you! If your letter speaks true and doesn't sound like something the other candidate sent him it'll be much more memorable. Granted, I will say this needs to be considered for the type of job you are seeking. Highly professional jobs, just write a very professional thank you letter. Business jobs can be more casual.
