If a student had difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?

The interviewer wants to hear that you will not give up on your students. Explain that you would try another way of tutoring the student to ensure that your method leaves a lasting impact. You might ask another tutor for ideas to help the student learn. Perhaps you would ask the student's parent or guardian to help out at home if it was appropriate. Or, you may offer some simple encouraging words to help motivate the student.

      "I would do my best to identify where the misstep was taking place. In this instance, a roadblock or hindrance is keeping the student from understanding the material. I would try various strategies and approaches to teaching the skill, including seeing examples. I would break down the process into smaller steps and communicate the information differently according to their learning style. I would also use visual resources."
