Question 29 of 31

What is the toughest problem you've had to face, and how did you overcome it?

"When I was in college, I was assigned a group project that did not get off to a great start. We were tasked with implementing a community service project. My group consisted of a few different big personalities, and we just could not get on the same page. We met with our professor, and he said if we didn't figure something out, we could end up failing the class. After our meeting, I led our group to hammer out a compromise. While we definitely had some sleepless nights, we got down to business, assigned roles, pulled through, and earned an A on the project! This experience taught me a lot about group work and how to be an effective collaborator and leader."

  • 29. What is the toughest problem you've had to face, and how did you overcome it?

      How to Answer

Think back to a time when you faced a significant roadblock, and you overcame the situation. It's best to choose a career-related example. If you are a recent graduate, your example can come from your education, volunteer, or extra-curricular activity.

The interviewer is most concerned with how you overcame the problem. When responding, go into depth on how you worked through the issue. Keep your answer positive and talk about what you learned from the experience.
