Her older brother witnessed the abduction and tried to apprehend the suspect but was knocked unconscious. We didn't get the call until a neighbor found the brother and called 911. We had a lot of leads and surveillance footage, but it took us two days of working non-stop to track down the suspect and victim. I maintained my focus by remembering it was a child we were searching for who happened to be the same age as my niece. Regardless of age, I can always maintain focus because my job can mean the difference between life and death."

The next day, her adult children reported her missing from her home. Her husband had a solid alibi, and we could not initially find any clues to help us solve this mystery. I decided to go over the contents that were taken from the home during a search warrant and review the photos of the residence. I noticed an odd-looking pen on the nightstand and found it in the evidence bag. When I looked closer at the pen, I discovered it was a spy pen. The pen was dead, but I sent it to our forensics crime lab, and they were able to analyze the audio. The victim had recorded herself while confronting her husband about a possible affair, but it had also recorded a conversation she had with someone she was seeing outside the marriage. It took six months to determine who the person was, but he shed a lot of light on the victim's marriage, which led us in a new direction, and we ultimately solved the case. Once we had irrefutable evidence, the husband confessed to playing a part in his wife's disappearance."

That way, I can perform well at my job and have enough energy after work to spend quality time with my wife and kids. I also use my holiday time to go on vacation with my family and leave work behind as much as possible. But, you will find, I spend plenty of time away from work poring over cases, so there is a fine line."

Since graduating, I have taken additional coursework in computers and a variety of software programs, so I am now confident in my technical abilities."
