26. Have you ever missed work, for an unexcused reason?
How to Answer
You're not superman, and the interviewer doesn't expect you never to miss a day of work your entire life. They're just making sure that you don't have any attendance issues and that you know how to provide notification when you can't come to work. Assure the interviewer that you are responsible when it comes to reporting absences well ahead of time. Show that when unexpected circumstances arise, you know how to adequately cover your bases so that your employer and co-workers are not left hanging.

1st Answer Example
"In over five years as a cab driver, I can say that I've rarely missed work. Of course, there were times that I had to call in sick. In those instances, I make sure to cover my shift. Once, I had to cut my day short to attend to a family emergency. I respect my boss and value our relationship which is why I always make sure to give him a heads-up and a timeline on my return."

2nd Answer Example
"When you call my references you will hear that I am incredibly responsible, always 10 minutes early for work, willing to work late on peak evenings, and ready to jump in to help a colleague. I have never missed work for an unexcused reason, and am sure to communicate very well with my dispatch team."
