29. Describe a time when you had to sacrifice quality to complete a job?
What You Need to Know
This question is designed to offer insights into your work style, your communication style, and the respect you hold for the chain of command. If you were ever in a position where quality of work performed had to be sacrificed to meet a deadline, you'll need to present the backstory. You want to advertise yourself as someone whose work habits are striving to go above and beyond and exhibiting a can-do attitude.
They want to know if you are one to cut corners, performing at the bare minimum, while watching the clock just so you can clock out on time. Or are you the type to take on additional tasks to support your team and your leadership? On occasions where quality was sacrificed, was this according to clearly communicated instructions from your superiors? If so, reveal the ways in which your hard work benefitted you and the team. Try to turn this into a positive.

Answer Example
"I do not think that it is an option to sacrifice quality, especially when you are working with the public. The items that Wal-Mart sells must be safe, quality, and affordable. The customers need to feel that their best interest is always top of mind."
