Your only answer should be, 'Never!' Starbucks can get quite busy with rushes of customers, and arriving late or missing your shift will put an undue burden on your coworkers. The interviewer needs to know that they can count on you to be at work at the assigned time every day. Tell the interviewer that you are a punctual person who prioritizes arriving at work on time or even a few minutes early. Be sure to mention that you plan for traffic and inclement weather, if relevant in your area. If you have children, be sure to mention that you have backup plans in place for childcare should something fall through with your typical plans. Lastly, back your answer up with a solid example or stats from your previous role.

You don't have to have the entire Starbucks menu memorized, but you should know enough to answer this question with ease. Review the core components of the Starbucks menu, keeping in mind that there will be changes due to seasons or location.
Remember, your interviewer is not expecting you to know everything, and they know that many individuals will do much of their learning on the job. But keep in mind that it's easier to train you as a worker if you already have a working knowledge of what you will be preparing.

Give a concrete example of a time when you helped make a situation right for an upset customer. Emphasize your listening skills, calm demeanor, and sincere empathy for the customer. Of course, be sure to tell the interviewer what solution you came up with through your problem-solving and how that solution improved the situation for the customer. You might mention that you are aware of Starbucks' policy to remake any beverage that a customer is unsatisfied with, no matter the reason. If you've applied the same practice in a previous role, feel free to share that with your interviewer.
You can also approach the question with something you have done during the ordinary course of the day to go above and beyond for your customers. For example, if you work at a grocery store, you might share that you walk the customers out to their car when customer levels allow and assist them with loading the groceries in their vehicle.

Addressing customer complaints is an essential part of customer service, and the interviewer wants to hear that you are comfortable receiving customer complaints and problem-solving. Especially at a company like Starbucks, where customer satisfaction with the final product is key, emphasize the importance of putting the customer first. Start off by telling the interviewer that you do not mind addressing customer complaints and feel comfortable working to find the best possible solution to a complaint so that the customer is ultimately happy.
Tell the interviewer that you take time to listen to everything the customer has to say first to ensure you truly understand what they are upset about. Next, share that you make eye contact with the customer and sincerely apologize to them. Finally, emphasize that you always offer to correct any mistakes that were made or take the appropriate action to rectify the situation, such as creating a new beverage for a customer who tried something new today and didn't care for it.
If you can give an example from a previous customer service role, all the better.

Starbucks employs over 200,000 employees worldwide, which means they have seen their share of unethical employee behavior. The interviewer would like to know how you would react if put in an awkward and/or harmful situation like being asked by a co-worker to steal with them or cover up a lie. The answer to this question may seem fairly obvious, but ensure that you are aware of the different ways a co-worker may attempt to engage in unethical behavior:
- Timecard fabrication, also known as 'buddy punching' where you punch in for a coworker who is not present
- 'Borrowing' money from the cash register
- Taking items from the lost and found
- Stealing data or documents containing trade secrets
- Taking supplies for personal use or adding personal items to supply orders
