Question 30 of 35

Describe a time when you disliked company rules in your last job.

"I did not like my previous company's return policy. I felt that it was too stringent, and I see the value in being more flexible with valued customers. I stood by the policy, regardless, as it was a top-down decision, but did decide to speak with my supervisor about some ideas I had for change."

  • 30. Describe a time when you disliked company rules in your last job.

      What You Need to Know

The interviewer wants to hear that you are not a rule-breaker and that you support the company's rules. Starbucks is a huge company with top-down decisions being made at a corporate level. Be aware that you will likely have little to no say in these rules.

Start by telling the interviewer that you follow all of the company rules and support the company's leadership decisions regarding regulations. Next, think of an 'outside the box' rule your current or previous employer had established. Show the interviewer that you respect decisions regardless of if you agree with those decisions on a personal level or not.
